Prevent Arthritis with Chiropractic
Dr. Sean Gimbert:
Welcome! Today, I’m gonna be answering the question of “How long does it take for arthritis form and Doc, can I do anything about it if I already have it?”
So let’s break down what arthritis it. Today, we’re gonna be talking about specifically osteoarthritis arthritis. Okay. Osteo- meaning bone, and arthritis means swelling, pain in the joint.
You might be surprised when I say it only takes four weeks of improper function of the spine for arthritis to form. We can actually start to see that the joint is going to be degenerating or wearing out prematurely in as little as four weeks.
And if you’ve been with us for a while, you’re gonna recognize this drawing here, but we’ve got our spinal segment here, Okay? We’ve got our discs in between, like shock absorb disc pads, and the nerve holes, that allow the nerve roots to shoot off from the spinal cord going to all cells, tissues, glands and organs of the body. And the problem is our spines are mobile. And if the spine shifts out of place either backwards, twisting to the left or the right. That’s gonna “lock up” that area.
That area is not gonna work right. K? And after only four weeks if we don’t get this fixed, our body’s gonna try to stabilize that area and the best way that it can. And it does that by laying down additional calcium on the bone structures here.
So at the margins of the bones, we’re gonna have calcium that builds up and it’s gonna get worse and worse and worse over time. And we can start to see this building and building and building. And I notice this when I take x rays, we can see how long this has been going on in a lot of cases depending on the amount of calcium that’s been laid down.
Sometimes people might call this a bone spur and if it gets bad enough, this calcium can actually bridge the gap of the joint and this can be completely “locked up” permanently.
That’s why it’s so important for us to get our spines adjusted on a regular basis, with maintenance. It’s just healthy- just like we take care of our teeth, you should take care of our spines too. And the great thing about chiropractic is that four weeks is great for so many people.
Now you may need to come in a little bit more, but every one to four weeks is going to be absolutely perfect to prevent any of this arthritis from forming. And with the adjustments we’re actually able to halt the progression of arthritis and many many cases, that’s a wonderful benefit of arthritis and when we adjust the spine, we bring it back into its proper alignment, and that’s going to relieve pressure that’s built up there, relieving stiffness,
and it’s just gonna feel great.
So let me know if you have any questions, hope you learn something,
we’ll see you on the next video.
